Houston 2020 Visions:
Online Exhibition Showcases Houston’s Strategies for Resilience
A visually engaging, thought-provoking new online exhibition, available August 31, 2020 through April 2021, is the result of a year-long open call for entries from architects, engineers, environmental thinkers, city planners, educators, and scholars in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
The Houston 2020 Visions exhibition, which features SWA’s Houston Green Loop concept among many others, primarily tackles issues arising from flood mitigation and response, and was sponsored by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Virtual programming includes panel discussions with resiliency experts from a variety of disciplines.
A physical, in-person version will debut this coming fall at the Architecture Center Houston (ArCH) – a fitting venue, due to its recent reopening after being flooded during Harvey. While the launch date remains to be set due to COVID-19 concerns, the online exhibition offers a window into creative and timely thinking that is safe to experience while social distancing remains in effect.
