Ying-yu Hung
“Landscape architecture has become a meta-discipline that guides other disciplines: one that protects world resources and sets strategies to curtail global warming, to augment habitats for endangered species, and to minimize the human footprint. It is uniquely poised to investigate the issues of cultural diversity, public and private interests, and the overriding importance of green technology and practices in the urban environment.”
Ying-yu Hung has 25 years of experience in urban design and landscape architecture for complex projects that balance environmental and development issues. She has directed landscape design for a wide variety of public and private projects. As both a designer and a planner, she has the demonstrated capability to integrate form with function, and possesses the vision to protect our exhaustible resources with sustainable development. A testament to her high-quality designs, many of Ms. Hung’s projects have been recognized with prestigious awards including the ASLA Award of Excellence.
Ying-yu is an adjunct assistant professor of the Landscape Architecture Master’s Degree Program at the University of Southern California, and a design critic in landscape architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is also co-author of the book “Landscape Infrastructure: Case Studies by SWA.”
